Geeks In India Can Get OnePlus One At $355December 2, 2014
The famous geeks’ phone, OnePlus One has gone on sale in India, today. Amazon India will be exclusively selling the smartphone. Right now, it’s the 64GB Sandstone Black version available on Amazon. As usual you’d still need India specific invites to buy the phone. It’s priced very aggressively at just $355 (INR 21,999) which is close to its international pricing, $349.
Just before its launch, OnePlus broke the news that Indian variant will not be supported on CyanongenMod OS because CyanogenMod’s exclusivity deal with Micromax. I already told you why it’s not serious for end users and geeks. So there’s no mention of the Cyanogen anywhere. It runs on OnePlus’ homebrew OS based on Andriod KitKat 4.4. There isn’t even CM branding on the back of the phone, unlike its global variant.
As far as the specifications are concerned, OnePlus One is a steal of deal. It’s got Snapdragon 801 processors running at 2.5GHz with 3GB of RAM and 64 gigs of internal memory. It’s got a 5.5 inch display with FullHD (1080p) resolution and a 13MP camera with 6 particle lens and can record 4K videos with stereo audio. I wouldn’t be surprised if OnePlus gets overwhelmed with the demand in India.
For those worried about its after sales support, OnePlus has built the network of 25 service centers across India, which will hopefully grow in near future. So if you’ve got an invite and waiting to grab this phone then don’t wait longer as invites must be used within 48 hours. Are you going to buy ‘One’?
