It’s not long ago that Huawei launched its Leica branded dual camera equipped P9 in India. Now there’s one more dual camera smartphone, Honor 8, from the same company under its online only Honor brand.
The Honor 8 gets Kirin 950 chipset that’s a step behind P9’s Kirin 955 but has 4GB RAM that’s 1 gig more. The phone features the similar 5.2-inch FullHD display. There’s a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Both the camera sensors on the rear have 12MP resolution. One of them captures monochrome images while the other one takes full-color images. There are two separate ISPs as well to handle the data coming from the two sensors separately. Despite so much camera prowess, the Honor 8 can record movies max in FullHD (1080p) resolution. There’s no UltraHD option.
As a result of lack of Leica branding, the Honor 8 costs Rs.29,999 (US $449), which is cheaper than the P9 by Rs.10,000 (US $149). It will be sold on Amazon India and Flipkart without any kind of flash sale. It will come in three colors: Gold, Blue and White.
The company also launched a cheaper, lower spec’d Honor 8 Smart which comes without any rings and bells of the Honor 8. The Smart variant features Kirin 650 processor, 2GB RAM, a 5.2 inch FullHD display and a 13MP rear camera. There’s an 8MP front camera and a fingerprint sensor For this kind of specs, it’s quite expensive at Rs.19,999 (US $299).
