Selfies are everywhere. Selfies have become a trend that nobody can ignore. Selfies are also the reason we are finally getting better front cameras on smartphones. Once VGA, then 2MPs and very recently 5MP, we’ve come a long way for sure. But HTC wants to give you even more with its Desire EYE, the selfie phone with 13MP selfie camera.

There are lots of thing that set apart HTC Desire EYE from rest of the selfie phones. First and foremost is the front facing camera on Desire EYE. While we’ve recently seen 5MP front camera including HTC’s own offerings such as flagship One (M8), the Desire EYE boasts a 13MP front camera. If that wasn’t enough, HTC paired it with a dual tone LED flash. We already told you, Desire EYE isn’t your run of the mill selfie phone. While most selfie phones are in the mid-range segment, specwise, HTC Desire EYE packs all the features of a flagship.

HTC Desire EYE is the first in the Desire series to sport specs at par with real flagships. comes loaded with Snapdragon 801 SoC and 2GB of RAM. The selfie phone features a 5.2 inch FullHD (1080p) display, 16GB of internal memory and microSD slot. The list doesn’t end here. Desire EYE is also IPX7 certified which makes it waterproof; immersion at 1 meter depth for 30 minutes. That’s good for underwater selfies. As far as the rear camera is concerned, HTC has did it ‘fair and equal’ with 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash. Same as front one. The difference between the front and rear camera is the front one has f/2.2 and 22mm wide lens whereas rear one uses f/2.0, 28mm wide lens. HTC Desire EYE has another famous feature, Boomsound too.

With Desire EYE, HTC also launched its EYE experience, a software feature for imaging on its smartphone. Under EYE exprience there will be various features like Face Tracking, Screen Share, Split Capture, Face Fusion, Live Makeup, Auto Selfie, Voice Selfie, Photo Booth, Crop Me In. It’ll also roll out to some of HTC’s existing smartphones including HTC One (M7/M8), Desire 816, Butterfly 2 etc.

HTC Desire EYE doesn’t have any competitor at this time. Rather it will crush any so called ‘selfie’ phone with its might. It’ll be available in United States from this month and AT&T will be exclusively carrying the device.
