Hands-on: Intel RealSense 3D Camera on Lenovo Z51 1

Just a few days back Lenovo rolled out its new Z51 consumer laptop at its own tech summit, Lenovo Tech World. It’s the first product from the company to feature Intel RealSense 3D camera. During the launch of its new Yoga series in India, Lenovo also showcased the Z51. However, I was told that this variant will come later in India and the company is currently selling the ordinary version.

I got enough time to try and check out Intel’s new technology and it sure looks promising. It’s in the early stages now and there’s a scope for improvements. The only application I could test was the demo app from Intel. The setup is really simple. It uses three elements: usual camera, a depth sensor and an infrared sensor. These three together scan objects and track motions. I’d better let you watch the video for better understanding:
