James Bond Says Sony’s Phone Are Not The Best Ones Out ThereApril 25, 2015
Look, I’m not saying Sony’s phone are bad. Sony’s recent Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 all have been very decent phones, but there’s someone who just doesn’t like them and his opinion matters more to Sony than yours or mine.
You and I, we all have grown up seeing James Bond movies. If you never saw one, you probably shouldn’t have come here then. What was equally fascinating about Bond movies was the gadgets the action hero used. Sony was the major brand that has been associated with Bond movies for long time. It wasn’t hard to spot Sony phones in those movies. Rather, Sony’s Xperia T was sold as “Bond Phone” with the release of Skyfall and Sony’s next flagship was rumored for next Bond movie Spectre.
Apparently, Sony’s plan to show off its next flagship in the next Bond movie, well just didn’t go according to their plan. Why you may ask. James Bond realized Sony’s phones are not the best ones and so he refused to use it. According to leaked emails, Sony was pitching Daniel Craig who is playing James Bond in the next installment named Spectre, for product placement but he turned them down and also turned down $5M offer. That’s crazy amount of money for just holding a phone. Reply from James Bond producers was brutally honest.
BEYOND the $$ factor, there is, as you may know, a CREATIVE factor whereby Sam and Daniel don’t like the Sony phone for the film (the thinking, subjectively/objectively is that James Bond only uses the ‘best,’ and in their minds, the Sony phone is not the ‘best’).
Looks like Sony used a lot of Burnol after reading this. Ironically, Daniel Craig himself used Sony’s phones in Casino Royale (K800i/M600i), Quantum of Solace (C902) and Skyfall (Xperia T). I wonder what brought “Happy Realization” moment in his life. Do you have answers? 😉
