LG’s New Phones For India Can Make Calls Over 4G LTE and WiFiNovember 17, 2015
Although 4G LTE is fairly new in India, it’s growing at an impressive rate. The market is flooded with the 4G phones that cost as little as $80. All of them can use 4G only for data transfers, but don’t you wish you could make calls over LTE? Or even WiFi? Well, you can soon do both when LG Spirit LTE and LG G4 Stylus 4G are launched in India later this month. LG has tied up with Reliance Digital to sell these two phones offline.
These two LG phones will be the first ones to offer VoLTE and VoWiFi in the country. While the features are indeed exciting, service providers will need to upgrade their networks for these features to work. It will happen eventually, but the 4G LTE which is still in baby phase doesn’t have support for it just yet. Airtel is the only commercial 4G provider right now in the country. Until then, these phones will work like just any other 4G smartphone, good enough to quickly download stuff from the internet.
Both the LG Spirit LTE and G4 Stylus 4G have few specs common. Both are powered by the Snapdragon 410 processor and merely 1GB RAM. While the Spirit has a 4.7 inch HD display, the one on the G4 Stylus is bigger by an inch (5.7 inch) and supports the stylus. Spirit has an 8MP rear camera and a mere 1MP front camera, definitely not for selfies. G4 Stylus is better with its 13MP rear camera with laser AF and 5MP front camera. The G4 Stylus will have a massive 3,000 mAh battery while Spirit will make do with a tiny 2,100 mAh battery. Both the phones will go on sale later this month. Do you think it’s the right time to buy VoLTE phones?
Update: Here’s the pricing of both the phones. The LG Spirit LTE will cost INR 12,990 ($196) and LG G4 Stylus will cost INR 20,990 ($318).
