It’s confirmed. Meizu is bringing its flagship MX5 phablet to India. The Chinese phone maker has signed an exclusive deal with India’s Snapdeal to sell its flagship. Meizu is already selling m2 Note in India through Amazon.
Meizu MX5 is available in China for approximately $282 for the 16GB version. Although, Meizu and Snapdeal have opened registrations for MX5, there’s no word on the pricing. Meizu will be hosting an event on August 26 in India, that’s when it would probably speak about the price. Meizu MX5 has a stellar spec sheet and handsome looks, so a right price tag is all it needs to attract some eyeballs.
Now that we’re at it, let’s have a look at MX5’s specsheet. It has MediaTek’s Helio X10 2.2GHz, octa-core chipset (same one used inside HTC One M9 Plus) with 3GB RAM. It features a 5.5 inch FullHD AMOLED display so you can expect great picture quality. The camera is another interesting aspect of MX5. It uses a setup consisting of a 20.7MP sensor (probably sourced from Sony), 6 elements lens, laser autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. And it’s probably the first phone to use Gorilla Glass 3 as lens protection. Oh, there’s a fingerprint scanner too. People who obsess over design will like MX5’s full metal chassis.
Undoubtedly this specs are quite attractive but Meizu will have build rapport with Indian users which will be key to its success in this fierce competition.
