Nokia today announced the two latest additions to their Asha family, namely Asha 308 and Asha 309. Both the phones are full touchscreens and Asha 308 packs dual SIM capability. Nokia claims that these are their cheapest ‘capacitive touchscreen’ devices so far (as Asha 305 and 306 have resistive touchscreens). The Asha 309 is the single SIM variant of Asha 308. While both Asha 308 and Asha 309 work on 2G, Asha 309 also has Wi-Fi as an additional connectivity option. Both the devices also boast 3.0″ WQVGA touchscreen display, support for 32GB microSD cards and run on Nokia’s fresh Swipe based Asha Touch UI. Nokia is also offering a pack of 40 EA games for free.
“Nokia’s Asha Touch family delivers all the core smartphone experiences, and with the new software developer kit, provides ever-increasing flexibility for developers to build compelling new experiences for consumers,” said Will Stofega, Mobile Phone Program Director, IDC.
Estimated retail price for the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 will be around USD 99, excluding taxes and subsidies, with shipping expected to start in the fourth quarter 2012.
