Nokia Lumia Black Update Now Rolling Out To All Lumias

Nokia has started rolling out the Lumia Black as promised from today. Lumia Black is Lumia special update based on Microsoft’s GDR3 update for Windows Phone 8.  Lumia Black was initally made available on the flagship Lumia 1520 and a mid-ranger Lumia 1320. The Lumia Black update consist of new camera algorithms for PureView devices apart from the general features which will be available for all the Lumia phones. The general features include safe driving mode,customized ringtones for contacts, screen rotation lock and a better multi-tasking view.

The Lumia Black update will introduce App Folders to Lumia phones. As the name suggests, users will be able to group their apps inside folders. These folders will still be tiles and only available on the start screen. There’s new version of Glance Screen too, Glance Screen 2.0 which now shows app notifications as well from apps like Twitter,Facebook or Outlook. This update will also enable Bluetooth LE on all Lumia handsets.

The Nokia Refocus app will now be available for all devices that has 1GB of RAM and not just limited to only PureView ones. Similarly, the Nokia Camera app which was earlier exclusive to PureView phones will be made available to all Lumia phones running on WP8. For Lumia 1020 the new camera app will enable raw DNG support which is already available on 1520.  Also will come the Nokia StoryTeller app which debuted on Lumia 1520 and 2520.

The update is currently being rolled out for Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 and will be soon made available to other handsets as well.
