Nokia’s Old Factory in Finland is Making Phones Again But For Someone ElseMarch 3, 2016
Nokia’s factory in Finland has started making phones again. But before you get excited, let me tell you it’s not for Nokia. Nokia’s reentry into smartphone market game is still far fetched. So, the Turing Phone, US phone maker, will be using Nokia’s one of the old idle Nokia factories in Finland to make its phones.
There’s more to the story and Finland’s contribution to Turing Phones. The company is also its office in Salo. The manufacturing of the phones is slated to start in the next month, April. The Turing Phone smartphone will be using the Jolla’s Sailfish OS which is also a Finnish product.
Spec wise the Turing Phone is almost outdated. The spec-sheet resembles that of OnePlus One. It has Snapdragon 801 octa-core processor and 3GB RAM along with special cryptography chipset. Turing Phone will be focusing on the data privacy and information security. It will feature liquid-metal alloy chassis dubbed ‘Liquidmorphium’. There will be a 5.5 inch FullHD display, a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and will come in 3 storage variants (16/64/128GB). These are just a few of its specs. Hit this link for full spec-sheet. Jolla’s own phone failed to make a big impression and the tablet project has been scrapped now. Turing Phone is still hoping to make a splash in the ocean of smartphones. Let’s see where it’s headed after April.
