Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 Announced, To Power Flagships This YearFebruary 25, 2014
While the top dogs are busy introducing their flagships, Qualcomm, which powers them, has announced upgrade to its Snapdragon 800 SoC as Snapdragon 801. Snapdragon 801 is similar to its predecessor in many ways but yet,its different with the ability to do more and better things.
Snapdragon 801 improves on the various key features such as support for larger camera sensors and post-image processing. It also packs better mobile graphics, higher speed SD card memory and dedicated hardware for dual SIM-dual active services in China. Snapragon 801 integrates 4G LTE Cat 4 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi for seamless connectivity, a quad core Krait 400 CPU for advanced processing performance and an Adreno 330 GPU, just like Snapdragon 800. Support for Ultra HD (4K) videos is also present. Qualcomm claims to achieve better battery life Snapdragon 801 processors.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 is ready to power the devices right from this quarter and Sony Xperia Z2 is one such device.
