Soon after announcing the entry-level Redmi 5A just a few days back, Xiaomi has launched a couple of more phones in China. The new phones are Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.
Redmi 5 is currently the cheapest phone on the market to have the 18:9 Full-Screen display with Redmi 5 Plus only next to it. The Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch display where the Redmi 5 Plus has a 5.99-inch display. However, both the phones have different resolutions. The display on Redmi 5 sports HD+ resolution whereas the one on Redmi 5 Plus has the FHD+ resolution.
Snapdragon 450 handles tasks in Redmi 5 whereas Snapdragon 625 takes the charge in Redmi 5 Plus. Both the phones come in two configurations. The Redmi 5 comes in 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB configuration. The Redmi 5 Plus, on the other hand, gets 3GB/32GB by default and has 4GB/64GB as an option.
Both the phone comes with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Of course, there is a fingerprint sensor on both the phones. The Redmi 5 has a 3,300 mAh battery while the Redmi 5 Plus has a 4,000 mAh battery.
The Redmi 5 will cost RMB 799 ( ~US $120) for 2GB variant and RMB 899 (~US $136) for 3GB variant. The Redmi 5 Plus will cost RMB 999 (~US $150) for base 3GB variant and RMB 1299 (~US $196) for 4GB variant. However, Xiaomi has is yet to confirm the date when the two phones will go on sale.
