Looks like something is definitely cooking up between Microsoft and Verizon Wireless. After a long silence and 2nd class citizen treatment to its Windows Phone handsets, things on Verizon Wireless have started to change. Surely such issues are not limited to Verizon but I’ve seen more people frustrated with Verizon than any other carrier.
Microsoft has already confirmed latest Lumia Denim update for its Lumia phones with Verizon. Some other Windows Phone handsets on Verizon handsets were apparently in the poorer condition than Lumias. Samsung ATIV SE and HTC W8 are both stuck on the Windows Phone 8 which shipped with this phone. It is worth noting that at this point of time, ATIV models are almost 18 months old and HTC W8 is over an year old. Although, Microsoft has confirmed the update for Lumia handsets, it is only ‘hopeful’ of delivering Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 to ATIV SE and W8. That is, it’ll be delivered only if Verizon doesn’t play spoilsport. Microsoft seems so unsure about it that they mentioned it in a byline in the official blog post.
Verizon also hopes to deliver upgrades to Windows Phone 8.1 for the HTC W8 and Samsung ATIV SE very soon as well!
Anyways, let’s take this news with a pinch of salt and keep our fingers crossed while hopping for Verizon to not to fail this time around.
