Samsung Galaxy Alpha, that’s the name of the latest Galaxy smartphone to come out of Korean handset maker’s factory. Most of you would think, it’s just another Galaxy phone, like what Samsung always does. If you were waiting for a Galaxy phone in metal chassis, then Galaxy Alpha is the answer. It seems Samsung has finally realized that they abused the plastic very much. Demand for a metal phone was building one too. Not that Samsung didn’t have phones with metal chassis, Samsung’s top-end Wave series always sported the metal chassis. But anybody hardly paid any attention. We don’t remember seeing any metal clad Galaxy phone before.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha, well, isn’t fully metal clad to say. It uses metal frame for construction but the back cover remains plastic one. Looks like Samsung loves plastic too much. And the back cover features the same design as Galaxy S5. It takes design cues from the flagship but in our opinion it comes closer to iPhone 5S with new design. Galaxy Alpha is just 7mm thick and weighs only 115 gms, that’s a good feat.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha isn’t the flagship handset by any means and so don’t expect chart topping specs. Yet, it’s sufficiently equipped. Just like the S5,it’ll come in two variants, one with Exynos processor and other with Snapdragon version. And this one has fingerprint scanner too. It’ll come in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue. Samsung is expected to launch it September. There’s no word on pricing.
