Sony has announced their much rumored handsets, Xperia Z and Xperia ZL in the ongoing CES at Las Vegas. While both are companies flagship phones for the year, Xperia Z has all it takes to be a one. The handset has water resistant abilities. Xperia Z features 5″ Full HD 1080p Reality Display enhanced by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. It’s powered by Snapdragon S4 quad-core preocessor clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2GB of RAM.
It also features 13 MP AF camera with Exmor RS for mobile image sensor with LED flash and support for HDR. Xperia Z is IPX5/7 and IP5X certified which gives it water and dust resistance abilities. On connectivity front,apart from regualr GSM/EDGE/3G, it also comes with support for LTE. Xperia Z also features Wi-Fi,Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, HDMI, GLONASS,aGPS.
Xperia ZL is the sister handset of the Xperia Z. While it offers same specifications as Xperia Z, it packs those in smaller chassis and does it without water or dust resistant abilities. Sony calls it “The amazingly compact 5” full HD smartphone”.
Both the phones will launch with Android Jellybean 4.1 onboard but will be updated to Android 4.2 soon after. Both the phones are expected to become available in Q1 2013. While Xperia Z will be available globally, Xperia ZL will be made available only in selected markets.
