When Google released Android M, next major iteration of the OS, few weeks back it made it available for its Nexus lineup immediately after the launch. As far as devices from other makers are concerned, users of those devices can not do anything but keep waiting for announcements. But Sony users are as lucky as their Nexus counterparts.
We already know Sony is the major active contributor to the AOSP community. It has just released the Android M preview for few of its devices. But let me tell you, it’s not for the novice users as you’ll need to build flashable images for your devices. If words like ‘flash’, ‘image’ are new to you then you better skip experimenting with your device as you could instead end up turning it into a pricey paperweight.
The list of currently supported devices is quite long. It includes top-end Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z1, Z1 Compact, Z Ultra and even mid-range devices such as Xperia E3, M2, T2 Ultra and T3. That’s 11 devices. Let me remind you again, this is just to give users a taste of new features in Android M. Final builds are long away as Google hasn’t finalized and delivered the code to OEMs. Hit the source link below to see know more about how to build Android M images for your devices.
