Sony India has launched the Xperia Z1 Compact, a ‘mini’ variant of companies current flagship Xperia Z1, in Indian market. Unlike ‘mini’ versions of the flasgships from other OEMs, Sony’s Xperia Z1 Compact retains the specification of its elder sibling. Sony has put the same innards in compact chassis, giving the same performance as one would expect from a flagship.
Xperia Z1 Compact features Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz and 2GB of RAM. It carries the same camera module from original Z1 with 20.7MP ExmorRS sensor with G lens and BIONZ for mobile. It’s also IP55 and IP58 certified to keep it protected from water and dust. Unlike the 5 inch display on Z1, the Z1 Compact features 4.3 inch display. The display on Z1 Compact is still a Full HD panel with TRILUMINOUS and X-Reality for mobile. Another aspect that has seen reduction is the battery which is 2300 mAh on Z1 Compact compared to 3000 mAh on Z1. So we’re a bit skeptical about the battery performance but we would rather wait until we review one.

Xperia Z1 Compact will be available in black, white, pink and yellow. Sony India has priced Xperia Z1 Compact at MRP Rs.36,990 which is close to the selling price of original Z1. So we expect that of Z1 Compact to be lesser than this when it’ll be available from 24th Februray 2014.
