MWC 2014 is full of phones and yes, full of fun too. Lots of phones are coming out. How could Sony be the exception then? Sony has announced the upgrades to some of its last year’s devices and Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 are two of the newly announced devices along with flagship Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.
As the names suggests, both the phones are upgrade to the original Xperia M and its dual SIM variant Xperia M dual. But it’s not only the change in the name. The ‘2’ in the name also means double the power. Yes, Sony has upped the hardware on its mid-range phones. Both Xperia M2 and M2 dual sport Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. There is 1GB of RAM to go with it. There will be a variant of the Xperia M2 which will support 4G LTE in select markets. Xperia M2 will be apparently going head to head with the very famous Moto G, at least as far as specs are concerned. Xperia M2 boasts 4.8 inch display with qHD resolution.
It will come with 8MP AF camera with LED flash and with ExmorRS sensor. It’ll be able to record FullHD (1080p) movies. On the connectivity front, Xperia M2 doesn’t spare anything and includes DLNA and NFC too. Xperia M2 will sport a 2300 mAh battery with Sony’s proprietary STAMINA mode 3.0 to improve the battery performance further.
There is no word from Sony on Xperia M2’s pricing yet. Xperia M2 and M2 Dual will be running Android 4.3 JellyBean out of the box. Sony will start rolling out Xperia M2 from April 2014.
