Sony Finally Starts Using OLED Displays With Xperia XZ3August 31, 2018
Sony has come up with another flagship for this year with Xperia XZ3 which was just announced at the IFA2018. The Xperia XZ3 comes just six months after the Xperia XZ2.
Design wise, the Xperia XZ3 is more curvy than the Xperia XZ2 it succeeds. There’s 3D curved glass on front as well as back. Sony hasn’t yet followed the ‘notched display’ trend. As a result, we still get bezels on the XZ3. It goes without saying that as a Sony flagship Xperia XZ3 is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. Sony has also added touch sensitive frame to its latest phone. The feature is dubbed Side sense , like HTC U12+’s Edge Sense, which responds to gestures on either sides of the phone. The second trend Sony’s flagship misses out is the camera placement which has been a lot like that of recent iPhones.
The Xperia XZ3 features a 6 inch QHD+ HDR OLED display. It’s worth noting that it’s a first Sony phone to use OLED display. There’s still the same Snapdragon 845 processor mated to 4GB RAM. There’s a 19MP rear camera and 13MP front camera. The third trend Sony Xperia XZ3 didn’t follow is the twin camera setup, but it has its own tricks up its sleeves. The rear camera can record upto 4K HDR movies and FullHD 960fps slow-mos. The battery has been bumped to 3330 mAh as opposed 3180 mAh on XZ2. Despite the bump in specs and design, the Xperia XZ3 is marginally lighter.
The Sony Xperia XZ3 will go on sale from September and come with Android 9 Pie out of the box.
