Sony is probably the one company at MWC2014 which has touched all the product segments and upgraded them. Along with its flagship handset Xperia Z2 and mid-range Xperia M2, Sony has also launched next iteration of its flagship tablet, Xperia Z2 Tablet.
Xperia Z2 Tablet offers better specifications compared to its predecessor.
The latest tablet has identical hardware as company’s flagship handset Xperia Z2. It uses same Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2.3 GHz quad core Krait 400 CPU and 3GB of RAM. Compared to original Xperia Z Tablet this is a huge improvement which used Snapdragon S4 Processor clocked at 1.5GHz and just 2GB of RAM. With new SoC also comes better Adreno 330 GPU which offers 20% better performance than Adreno 320. Moving ahead, while the display size remains same at 10.1 inch with HD resolution (1900×1200) and still uses TRILUMINOUS and X-Reality for mobile, it adds new Live Color LED technology for better color reproduction. Xperia Z2 Tablet also gets better Ingress Protection rating. Compared to the Xperia Z Tablet with IP57 which made it ‘water resistant’, Xperia Z2 Tablet has IP58 rating making it ‘waterproof’ (1.5 mtr/30 mins) and it still is ‘dust resistant’ with IP55.
Xperia Z2 Tablet also features 8.1 MP with ExmorRS sensor and 2.2MP front camera, both able to record FullHD(1080p) videos. There are various connectivity features including WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, DLNA, MHL and Miracast. There is 6000 mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 to charge it 75% faster.
Xperia Z2 Tablet will come in two variants, WiFi only and 4G/LTE and will be available in black and white colors. Xperia Z2 Tablet will go on sale from March 2014.
