Sony Unveils Flagship Xperia Z2 At MWC2014February 25, 2014
During the ongoing MWC2014, Sony announced Xperia Z2 as its flagship handset and upgrade to Xperia Z1. Xperia Z2 comes with new tricks to maintain and set apart its position in the league of high-end phones. Xperia Z2 carries ahead Sony’s OmniBalance design, making it look similar to its predecessor.
In terms of pure specifications, Sony Xperia Z2 uses newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with quad core 2.3GHz Krait core CPU, and 3GB of RAM which enables it to record Ultra HD (4K) videos. Xperia Z2 boasts 5.2 inch TRILUMINOUS display, with X-Reality with Sony’s new Live Color LED to reproduce better colors. With IP55/IP58, Xperia Z2 is dust resistant and waterproof (up to 1.5m underwater). The camera stays same at 20.7 MP ExmorRS sensor with f/2.0 G Lens and BIONZ image processing engine. It also includes Motion Detection for blur free images and SteadyShot for stabilized video recording. 3X clear zoom on Xperia Z2 gives tele-like 81 mm optical zoom.
Sony has also included various sound related technologies in Xperia Z2 such as digital noise cancellation, ClearPhase, ClearBass and ClearStereo. Xperia Z2 sports dual stereo speakers. Connectivity options include NFC, WiFi, MHL, DLNA and 4G/LTE. Xperia Z2 comes with 3200 mAh battery with STAMINA mode.
Xperia Z2 runs on Android 4.4. KitKat out of the box and will be available in white, black and purple colors. Xperia Z2 is expected to hit the shelves starting March 2014. The pricing is yet to be announced.
