WhatsApp Will Drop Support For BlackBerry, Nokia and Few More

Here’s a bad news for BlackBerry users (and the users of some other platforms): WhatsApp decided to end the support for your phones. WhatsApp has been kind enough to support some outdated like Nokia’s S40, Symbian S60 along with Windows Phone 7.1, Android 2.1, 2.2 and BlackBerry OS even with the user base of this platforms was declining.

This move is quite understandable as it will enable WhatsApp to save on the resourced and concentrate its efforts. The inclusion of BlackBerry OS 10 is quite surprising here. This probably comes as the RIM itself has started to use Android for its phones.

But WhatsApp is not going to cut off the support overnight and leave you stranded. It will only happen by the end of 2016. So, you’ve plenty of time and a really good reason to switch to some other phone. It is good for you as users, as you will be able to use new features that will be available only on supported platforms. Android phones are pretty cheap nowadays if you wish to pick up an unlocked one. Take your time but make sure you don’t get stuck with the old phones.
