All About Windows phone is reporting that Microsoft has started roll out of the Windows Phone 7.8. Just few hours ago we reported that it’d be rolled out in some hours, 18:00 hrs GMT to be precise. And it seems that sources were right. They have received the update on their Lumia 710. Unfortunately we don’t have any older Windows Phone device to check the new software ourselves. The changelog includes,

  • New start-screen with resizable tiles
  • New theme colors, now total 20
  • New lock screen with Bing picture of the day
  • Enhanced IE9
  • Kids corner
  • Lumia exclusive goodies like media transfer over bluetooth, ringtone maker, new camera lenses

So if you’ve got a Windows Phone 7.5 device especially HTC or Samsung, do check if the update is being pushed to them as well. You just need to connect it to Zune and hit the update. As we told you in earlier post, it’ll be rolled out in phases so if you don’t see it now, don’t worry it’ll come soon. If you’ve upgraded, tell us what you liked about it.

Update: Nokia has officially confirmed the roll-out of the update. The update will be pushed to existing Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900 users. Software update will continue through February.
