Hot on the heels of the success of Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi has brought its one more offering to the Indian market. The Redmi 3S succeeds the Redmi 2 that was launched last year.
The Redmi 3S comes in two variants as is the case with Xiaomi’s phones. There will be Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime with a better spec sheet. While both of them are powered by the same Snapdragon 430 quad-core processor, the Redmi 3S has just 2GB RAM whereas the Prime has 3GB has a fingerprint sensor as well. Of course, you pay more for extra features. Both the variants also have different amounts of internal storage: 16GB and 32GB respectively.
Otherwise, both of them are made in the same mold. The Redmi 3S has metal chassis which has is now fairly common in this category with same dimensions. Both of them also share the same 13MP/5MP (rear/front) camera combo. It’s the display that still is 5 inches in size with the 720p HD resolution. The battery has always been a weak point of Redmi series, and that has been bumped up greatly with Redmi 3S. Both the variants feature 4100 mAh battery.
The Redmi 3S will come for Rs.6,999 (~$105), and the Prime will come for Rs.8,999 (~$135). Xiaomi isn’t getting rid of the old habit of flash sales with first sale happening on 9th August.
