The Indian smartphone market has been attracting the eyes of phone makers recently and especially those from China are in no mind to lose such a big, highly potential and untapped market. There are no signs of Chinese invasion getting over anytime soon. But that also means you guys get a lot more phones to choose from, and the stiff competition makes sure they fit your budget.
ZTE has been quietly present in India for years but now it’s making some noise with the entry of its sub-brand Z9 Mini is the first model to launch under Nubia brand. I didn’t play with it but from the photos at least it looks like premium on the outside. It has, erm, a striking resemblance with Xperia and iPhone. Its back especially looks inspired from Xperia. You can swap back covers and I personally find ZTE’s offering attractive. There’s bamboo style back cover, for instance.
Its innards include a Snapdragon 615 1.5GHz octa core processor and 2GB RAM. It has a compact yet spacious 5-inch display with FullHD (1080p) resolution that churns pixel density of 441ppi. ZTE says the 16MP camera of Nubia Z9 has DSLR-like capabilities. We will check the credibility of its claim later. There’s an 8MP front camera as well.
Nubia Z9 Mini sports all advanced connectivity options including 4G LTE. There’s a suitable 3000 mAh battery as well.
ZTE has made a good decision of avoiding annoying flash sales and instead selling it openly. Nubia Z9 Mini is priced at $267 (INR 16,999) which is not very aggressive but reasonably well. It comes only in black color and is available exclusively through Amazon India.
